The Squirrelmen Alliance

Consisting of 

- the Squirrelmen Republic, a democratic alliance of multiple planets inhabited by squirrelmen, a sapient species of inquisitive nature; 

- the Hedgehog Conglomerate, home of a more reclusive species who rely more on trade than war; 

- and the Ratmen Worlds, who just really like trash and minding their own business.

The squirrelmen basically look like large squirrels, about three to four feet in height. They are surprisingly strong compared to their body size. They are pretty good at cybernetics and genetical engineering, so their commanding officers are cyber-augmented, and their boarding parties include the famous Squirrelmen Berserkers.

At open war with: Llamamen

Of course this latter is a bit more nuanced as Hedgehogs and Ratmen don't really interfere with the ongoing Squirrelmen-Llamamen war.

The Krustacean Sphere

Consisting of the Arthropod Segment and the Krustacean Segment. They are descendants of the same ancestors, but Krustaceans enjoy water more. Krustacean society forms FLTs, which roam the known space for left-over materials and annihilate anybody standing in their way. Arthropods have central Hill Worlds with large populations.

Jazygian Space

The Jazygian Fleet of Observation has colonized two planets in the eastern fringes of the Zone, and mining the Wild Barrier asteroid belts, quickly built up strong enough fleets to counter any nearby power's incursions.

The Pullet Rooster Autocracy

Inhabiting the Contested Zone, the Pullet Rooster species are raptor- or birdlike humanoids, an upcoming powerhouse that threatens local status quo.

The Llamamen Empire

I've had difficulty picturing the llamamen species. Are they centaur-like, as in the original concept some fifteen years ago? Or are they hooved llama-headed humanoids that walk on two feet? Or both (which would be weird)? As I have to produce some printable sprites for them, I had to decide. 

So the llamamen (like the Krustaceans) are the results of human experimentation, and form two very different castes within their society.

The Two-feet Llamamen are the ruling elite, they are llama-headed and walk on two feet. They still have hooves on their fore legs so they have to wear psionic implants to manipulate any weaponry (if you look at the SABSFS sprites you can see that they CAN hold weapons, they just need special triggers or switches).

The Four-feet Llamamen are centaur-like hybrids which are really not the brightest ones. They are used as boarding parties and shock troopers. They are considered inferior to the Two-Feet. Only four-feet llamamen use acidic spit (which the two-feet also have, they are just very self-conscious about it).
