Test Space Battle

Being on sick leave, I quickly scraped together a simple spaceship warfare game, creatively titled 'Space Battles in Space by Spacecraft'. It is a distant cousin of another favourite of mine, 'Sea Battles at Sea by Ships'.

Anyway, in this scenario, which I conducted using the available sprites on Roll20, a Squirrelmen battlegroup is pounced upon by an evenly matched Llamamen attack group. Both sides have two Heavy ships. The Llamamen have fixed forward firing arcs and the Squirrelmen have fixed broadsides. Let's see who comes out on top!

Re the first picture, as soon as I started the game I realized that recharging shield values do not work with the chess-like IGOUGO system, so I changed that value to the number of boarders available.

The Squirrelmen began with moving forward to get the Llamamen ships quickly in their firing arcs. The Llamamen's intentions were the same, and SRS PicketyRicket and LEV BuenasNoches soon exchanged fire, resulting in each losing a Hull Point. SRS GumiKacha soon linked up and provided support for PicketyRicket, with no benefit whatsoever.

Now LEV BuenasNoches got bold and rammed PicketyRicket, sending all but one of their boarding parties, which were duly repelled and destroyed. BuenasNoches' heavy guns, being too close to the target, could not bear on PicketyRicket, and in the next second PicketyRicket launched three boarding parties across, which BuenasNoches had to face with a single one... the results were never in question, the Llamamen paid for their foolhardiness and the dreaded Squirrelmen Berserkers took over the ship in no time.

Now LEV DredFull's commander could have decided on an attempt to take BuenasNoches back from the vile foe, or to bear on the damaged PicketyRicket with its depleted crew and snatch it away, but instead he just said 'Leg it!', and rushed towards the extrication point on the shortest possible route. SRS GumiKacha, being closest, went to the chase and sent a few goodbye shots towards the Llamamen ship, but seeing that it would reach the hyperspace limit sooner than its hull strenght would fade under perfect fire, the Squirrelmen gave up, content with the day's victory.

In conclusion, with a few minor tweaks the rules work, they are easy and fun, I will upload them soon.
